Weather Conditions at the Canyon

Arizona Tourist Information and Travel Guide

The weather in the Grand Canyon varies significantly by elevation and time of year.  The climate in the inner gorge is similar to that of Tucson Arizona - hot and dry during the day with cool evenings.

The rims of the Grand Canyon are over a mile high.  Consequently, winters are often quite cool, particularly at night.  Approximately 60 inches of snow is received annually on the south rim of the canyon.
